After finishing college, he undertook a degree at the Dawson institute of Photography in Montreal, where he graduated at the top of his class. Two years after opening up his studio in 1987 he shot his first cover for Elle magazine, and began establishing himself as one of Canada's top fashion photographers. After moving to New York in 1995, Roberto, driven by his love of travel, cultures and discovery, undertook the development of three art projects: The Wild Horses of Sable Island, The American SandScape and Rocks & Things. Over seven years, he traveled to more than fifty countries, capturing the images, beauty and emotions of each location. In 2002 Roberto had four shows: the National Arts Club in New York, The Miau House Studios in Los Angeles, at SonyStyle in New York City and Chicago, and Richard's in Greenwich Connecticut. In 2003, his show A World Without Borders: The Wild Horses of Sable Island was showcased at the United Nations in NYC. In 2004, during July and August, Roberto's work was highlighted in Montreal in an outdoor show on three city blocks on McGill College. It was entitled Here is Now. In New York, a selected series is currently on display at the Ralph Pucci Gallery, August through October; at the Hampton Classic from August 29th to September 5th, and at Lord & Taylor Manhattan, where the American Sand Dunes will be on display in their windows, August 16th through September 16th. Roberto recently traveled to Tibet to photograph exclusively the Dalai Lama and his disciples for his upcoming book. His short films, TimeSquare and Sable Horses, have played in five film festivals. His photography donations include: The Rainforest Foundation, Sable Island Preservation Trust, The American Liver Foundation, Black Tie and Tails, and The World Rehabilitation Fund.
